About Restaurants in Zurich

There are plenty of good restaurants in Zurich, and more of them every year. We mention only a few that might be of particular interest to conference attendees. The selection is entirely subjective.

Reservation is strongly recommended for most restaurants. Tipping is not mandatory (and some people prefer to give nothing). We suggest a tip on the order of 5% (and rather more in top places) if you are happy.

Top Gourmet

The Restaurant (not the Garden Restaurant) in the Dolder Grand Hotel, +41 (0)44 456 6000.: Grand in every respect, and yet adventurous. Clearly number one, far and wide.
Ecco in the Hotel Atlantis, +41 (0)44 456 5533.: The critics are raving.
Sein, Schützengasse 5, +41 (0)44 221 1065, near Hauptbahnhof.: Most creative and inspiring cuisine. The associated tapas bar is also highly recommended.

Gustav, Gustav-Gull-Platz 5, +41 (0)44 250 6500.: Excellent cuisine in a fashionable new street close to the main train station. Don't miss the bouillabaisse.

Lindenhofkeller, Pfalzgasse 4, +41 (0)44 211 7071.: In a historical building in the heart of the old town. Great selection of wine.

Brasserie Seefeld, Horneggstrasse 15, +41 (0)44 381 0771.: Despite the name: traditional Italian at its best, with a Sardinian heart.

Markthalle, Aargauerstrasse 1, +41 (0)44 272 7734.: Inside a food market under a bridge in Zurich West.

Famous (and Pricey)

Kronenhalle, Rämistrasse 4, +41 (0)44 262 9900.: Traditional Swiss dishes. Amazing original paintings on the walls (including some Picassos).
Clouds, Hardstrasse 201, +41 (0)44 404 3000.: Great view from the top of the Prime Tower, Zurich's most conspicuous high-rise.

Beer Halls (Recommended!)

Zeughauskeller, Bahnhofstrasse 28a, +41 (0)44 220 1515, near Paradeplatz.: Great sausages, potato salad, etc., in a historical setting.
Bierhalle Kropf, In Gassen 16, +41 (0)44 221 1805, near Paradeplatz.: Ditto, but more intimate and perhaps even better.

Just Nice

Commercio, Mühlebachstrasse 2, +41 (0)44 250 5930.: Popular Italian place. The associated restaurants Commihalle and Mère Catherine are ok as well.
Spaghetti Factory, Niederdorfstrasse 5, +41 (0)44 251 94 00.: Remarkable room with beautiful ceiling.
